The Hedjaz Railway Museum

Concept Design
The Hedjaz Railway Museum
The Hedjaz Railway Museum is designed to encourage visitors to explore the museum through exhibitions that offer realistic experiences. The entrance gate of the museum is impressively designed with bold colors and patterns reflecting the history of the Hedjaz Railway. In the interior design, curved walls and winding paths are used to represent caravan trade routes and emphasize the connection between the region's history and culture. To evoke the atmosphere of the desert, dramatic desert colors such as sand, beige, and brown are used in the interior design.

Throughout the museum, traditional Islamic writings or quotes from historical figures are featured as an educational element while honoring Jordan's cultural heritage. The design concept of the museum focuses on the historical and cultural significance of the Hedjaz Railway.
The museum is designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia by bringing together elements such as ancient artifacts and explanations, maps, and interactive screens. It also provides visual resources about the history of the Hedjaz Railway and its socio-economic impact on the region. Additionally, the museum showcases efforts to restore the Hedjaz Railway and highlights specific initiatives. The museum is designed to serve as a bridge, focusing on connecting the heritage of the Hedjaz Railway with the people, places, and cultures.

The Hedjaz Railways Museum aims to provide visitors with a journey experience that highlights the cultural bridge and the role of belief in the journey. It offers an immersive journey experience to narrate the importance and story of the "road" both in a physical and conceptual sense. The concept aims to convey the message, "It's not just about reaching the destination; the journey itself is significant." Fluid spaces are designed where the concept of the road takes a physical form. Before entering, visitors encounter a landscape referencing Jordan's terrain. The central spherical unit represents a gathering area symbolizing unity accessible from different points.
